Sunrooms for Year Round Comfort

Summer is packing a punch for us along the Gulfcoast.  August brought heat advisories and this Labor Day hasn't had its usual break with afternoon pop-up storms.  What better way to enjoy a Florida summer outdoors from the indoors with a climate-controlled sunroom?  A dedicated sunroom space can provide you and your family enjoyment and comfort for years to come. Read on for more advantages to adding a sunroom to your home today.
Rain or Shine  Sunroom living spaces provide a way to enjoy the Florida outdoors rain or shine.  When bad weather builds up, the outdoor party does not have to end.  Simply entertain from the comfort of a sunroom.  This space will provide all the views of the outdoors with the protection from the elements.
Cool Comfort  Enjoy the beautiful view of your backyard while sitting in cool comfort.  No humidity, no sticky summer heat to put a damper on your views of flowers, birds, and curious squirrels. Catch up on a favorite book or the news while reclining in your very own Florida room.
Insect-Free Zone  The Florida panhandle contends with a number of pests in late summer.  Annoying wasps, bees, no-see-ums, mosquitoes, love bugs and more can deliver quite the stinging bite.  Not to mention, an indoor space will protect you from mosquito-born diseases such as West Nile.  An insect-free zone allows you to read in comfort and enjoy a smoky meal on the grill without the fly swatter!
Block the Rays  In Florida, it is recommended to avoid outdoor exposure between the peak sun hours of 10 AM and 4PM.  A sunroom structure provides an alternative to enjoying the outdoors while providing protection from damaging UVA-UVB rays. UV radiation can play an important role in conditions such as premature skin aging, eye damage and skin cancers.
Additional Living Space  Sunrooms provide additional square footage in the living space and can be used in a variety of ways.  Additional space can be used to entertain guests, provide more space with family comes to stay or to extend a place for our hobbies. The sunroom can provide a relaxing place for morning coffee or yoga. It can additionally function as an office for easy reading online.

I would like hurricane storm protection that I can leave up year round, so it doesn't take as much time to get storm ready? What other options are there?

Mike's Reply:  I appreciate your question.  Classic storm panels functionally get the job done, but require time and perspiration to install and storage space when not in use.  At Majors, we manufacture most shutter options in house to offer you a broad assortment of permanent shutter options that can also beautify the exterior of your home.  We offer bahama and colonial shutters, rolling shutters, accordian shutters and storm panels. Bahama shutters provide a nice shade for a window and also create that beach look for your home.  Traditional colonial shutters are installed on either side of the window and hinge shut when there is an impending storm.  Next, accordian shutters fold up on the sides year round, but can be easily closed from the comfort of your storm.  Not to mention, these can be locked for additional security.  This is extremely helpful if you must leave the area for a storm.  Last, rolling shutters are tucked away most of the year, but simply roll down and minimally impact the architectural integrity of your property.

There are a number of hurricane protection options.  You can also mix and match different storm protection shutters to accommodate your homes beauty and your storm ready needs.  Shutters come in a variety of color options too.  Visit here to learn more about hurricane shutter protection.

Majors Helps!
Before and After:
A Family Home Transformed

Several weekends later and a family's home is transformed.  The Majors crew, United Way, and many volunteers helped our "Self-Sacrificing" family.  Carolyn Butler and Debbie Lewis of Milton, a mother-daughter teacher duo were selected as the winners of the 2014 Home Repair project.  A major landscaping cleanup and several work days were devoted to installing new replacement windows, doors, storm shutters, vinyl siding, and kitchen refacing.
